October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Many of us know someone special who lost their battle with Breast Cancer. While there are many different forms of Breast Cancer, and not all are easily detectable, it is well known that early detection offers the greatest likelihood for recovery.

This month take the time to schedule your annual mammogram. If you are a man, take the time to remind the women in your life to schedule theirs; don't be embarrassed to talk about the importance of this lifesaving test. Most insurance companies require a doctor's visit first (where most will also do a cervical cancer screening--another important test), so get the ball rolling and the appointments scheduled. Of course, monthly self-examination is a critical part of prevention, too. Set a time each month and follow these Instructions for doing a breast self-exam.

I was recently contacted by a website, RegencyShop.com, that is doing an on-line auction of some pretty special chairs. The proceeds from the sales of these 3 chairs will go toward Breast Cancer awareness  charities. If you are interested in participating in the auction, here is the link: http://www.regencyshop.com/charity-auction.html.

I'll go pink for this great cause. Lost 2 sisters to the beast and now my Mother in Law battles the beast.  There has to be a cure!

Holly Weatherwax - for some reason, this year, I have come to know of few cases of breast cancer. Good news is, it's curable and have met many survivors in past.

Holly, I get my annual mammogram during October to coincide with Breast Cancer Awareness month. This is my way of not forgetting when the last time I had a test.
