Reston, Virginia Has a Home For Everyone!

You may have read about Reston, Virginia in one of your college classes. It is one of the early 'planned communities.' I remember sitting in my Fine Arts elective and having the professor begin talking about Lake Anne Lake Anne, Reston, VAPlaza (also called Washington Plaza), where I spent many hours of my childhood. As a child, I did not understand what an interesting place Reston was; it was simply where I lived. It was a little surreal to have it show up in one of my college courses!

Now that I am an adult, and particularly since I am a Realtor, I really appreciate the wide variety of housing choices available in Reston. Over the years, it has become a destination, and because of that, the prices have risen.  The beauty of Reston, however, is that there are all types of housing. You can choose from a 1 bedroom rental apartment at an affordable price point or a single family for over a million dollars--and literally every type of home and price point in between!

There are plenty of townhomes in all sizes, condos from basic to luxury, smaller detached homes, larger detached homes, contemporary homes, traditional homes and rental communities.  You can find zero lot lines, up to one acre lots.

In almost every community, you will people from every phase of life. It really is a very dynamic and diverse community. Reston children attend Fairfax County Schools, known nationally as one of the best school systems in the country.

With great restaurants and bars at Lake Anne Plaza and Reston Town Center, it is a very social place for young professionals to live. The Metro will open soon, providing even more opportunities for commuting and easy ways to get  into D.C. and Arlington

The trend over the past 10 years or so is for retirees to sell their homes and move into a condominium somewhere in Reston. It is such a great place to live that people are tending not to leave. Reston Town Center has been a popular choice with its shopping, restaurants, concerts, movies and more.  The fact that so many are choosing to stay in Reston after retirement, should let Mr. Robert E. Simon (who is still out and about in Reston) that his plan has succeeded.
