My Personal Anecdotal Evidence that The Economy Is Getting Better

Negativity breeds negativity and I can't help but feel that the reportermedia is driving so much of the economic slowdown by pushing us toward panic. When business owners are scared, they don't hire. When homeowners are scared they don't improve their homes. When banks are scared, they don't loan money. And on and on and on.

Certainly, this is a simplistic, and incomplete, view of the economy. BUT...I can't help but feel that hearing positive news can have a positive effect on the economy. For that reason, I have decided to share some things that I have noticed or experienced lately.
  1. We got our refinance done.  We are both small business owners, and because of that, difficult to approve in the best circumstances, but we were able to get our refinance approved.
  2. Gas prices have gone down and, at least for the moment, stabilized. This is helpful when your career dictates that you drive around a lot!
  3. My college senior has several job interviews. Jobs have been hard to get--even for the best of students, so I think this is good news.
  4. The iPhone 4S pre-orders are sold out. For most people this was a 'want' and not a 'need.'
As I said, these things are not huge headline events, but to me, they show the smallest steps toward an improving economy.

What is your good economic news? Let's try sharing the positive and not the negative!

The restaurants in town have a waiting list on Friday night. For the past couple of years one could stroll into any establishment at 7pm and get a table. To me that says folks are spending money!

You are right on.  Continued negative news from the media drives clients away.  You could probably chart it for proof.
