The Stinky Stink Bug Problem

Many people have noticed a significant increase in the number of Stink Bugs in and around Virginia. These bugs, related to the sneaky bed-bugs, are native to Asia and are extremely proficent and getting into your house through very small openings.

Even Pest Control companies are having a tough time getting rid of them.

Some of the 'holistic' treatments I have heard discussed include:

**Vacuum them and immediately discard of the bag

**Order some Praying Mantes, who will eat them

**Spray the outside of your house with a solution of DAWN Dishwashing Detergent (only this brand) and water.

I can't guarantee that any of these will work, but right now, nothing else does, so one of these might be worth a try! This story on the Today Show talks about a Stink Bug eating cat...might be worth a try!

Believe me, it is not only in your state of VA.  I live in South Central PA and we have them as well.  I have seen different people use different items to exterminate them, but never heard of your mentioned solutions.  Lets hope this is not a recurring problem.

I was surpised the other day to see a slew of them on a neighbors balcony. Yuck!  We just used a sprinkling of diatomaceous earth to kill some wood roaches so now we will try it on the stink bugs and see if it works.

Fernando, sorry you have to blame the entire state of Pennsylvania for a bug.

I was just watching the Today Show and listening about this!    In 6 weeks, I am attending the NAR convention - and SURE HOPE the Hilton has those beds clean and free of bugs!

We don't have those types of bugs out here in my part of California...  Why the "only" dawn?

I read a post from a friend who was using roach killer to kill them but I think that in a few weeks they will all be gone anyhow and she'll still have poison in her home so I think I'll just wait them out.

They are a problem.  I am so sick of these little creatures.  They are everywhere.  Outside my home too.

I used to live in Asia so I decided to Google "stink bug" and here's what I found on Wiki: "Known as bọ xít in Vietnamese, the stink bug is featured in Vietnamese cuisine".

What's for dinner?  :-)
