Even Pest Control companies are having a tough time getting rid of them.
Some of the 'holistic' treatments I have heard discussed include:
**Vacuum them and immediately discard of the bag
**Order some Praying Mantes, who will eat them
**Spray the outside of your house with a solution of DAWN Dishwashing Detergent (only this brand) and water.
I can't guarantee that any of these will work, but right now, nothing else does, so one of these might be worth a try! This story on the Today Show talks about a Stink Bug eating cat...might be worth a try!

UCH. There are sooo many joys of homeownership! this is not one of them.
they sound and look awful - fortunately we have not seen the bed or stink bugs -yuck!
Believe me, it is not only in your state of VA. I live in South Central PA and we have them as well. I have seen different people use different items to exterminate them, but never heard of your mentioned solutions. Lets hope this is not a recurring problem.
Thanks to Pennsylvania for bringing the stink bug to the US.. .that has been proven
Good Morning Holly, good advice that I hope we will not need here!
I was surpised the other day to see a slew of them on a neighbors balcony. Yuck! We just used a sprinkling of diatomaceous earth to kill some wood roaches so now we will try it on the stink bugs and see if it works.
Fernando, sorry you have to blame the entire state of Pennsylvania for a bug.
We have a few of them in NH that are pesky too.
I was just watching the Today Show and listening about this! In 6 weeks, I am attending the NAR convention - and SURE HOPE the Hilton has those beds clean and free of bugs!
Bed bugs. Stink bugs. When does the madness end? All of this is just bugging me!!!
Holly, they have invaded my home - I am doing the Dawn solution and it seems to have worked a bit. Can't wait for the first freeze!!! Timely post!
We don't have those types of bugs out here in my part of California... Why the "only" dawn?
I read a post from a friend who was using roach killer to kill them but I think that in a few weeks they will all be gone anyhow and she'll still have poison in her home so I think I'll just wait them out.
Thanks everyone for stopping by to comment on this 'stinky' blog!
Chris, I have no idea why only Dawn? The friend who passed on the advice told me she had see that advice on many different blogs and websites. Who knew?
Very informative thank you. These bugs were a problem up in Canada and I'll forward this post link to our Canadian friends.
Thanks again,

They are a problem. I am so sick of these little creatures. They are everywhere. Outside my home too.
I used to live in Asia so I decided to Google "stink bug" and here's what I found on Wiki: "Known as bọ xít in Vietnamese, the stink bug is featured in Vietnamese cuisine".
What's for dinner? :-)
