I was an early registrant of Twitter. I got it. I did not, however, jump on the Twitter bandwagon. Frankly, I was focused on ActiveRain and did not want to get distracted. I really never cared what Ashton Kutcher was doing and I get my news soundbites from TV, Radio or computer.
THEN ActiveRain added the Twitter feed. Soon I was Tweeting with the best of them--only not really. Yes, I was sending out Tweets with links to my blog, but I was not using Twitter the way others were. I wasn't sending out Tweets. I felt good though; when people asked me if I Twittered, I could say yes.
Last night I logged on and spent a couple of minutes looking around. I did a search on Real Estate and analyzed what came up.
I have decided to try a 2 week experiment.
I am going to Twitter. REAL Twitter...brief updates about my business, real estate and the area. I am going to use the # before key words to help the search engine find my Tweets. I am going to post at least one a day and I am going to provide links back to my website and or blog.
In other words, I am going to give this a shot. Who am I to say no to free marketing? I will keep you posted on my results. For record keeping purposes, I currently have 52 followers...
If you want to follow me on Twitter, my twitter name is (surprisingly) hollyweatherwax.

I believe that buying or selling real estate should be a GREAT EXPERIENCE. If I can help you, your friends or family buy or sell their next home in Northern Virginia, please let me know!
If you need help with a home outside of Northern Virginia, I have an extensive network of referral agents and will make sure you are working with the best!

I too am Twitter challenged. I look forward to hearing about your 2 week trial.
@tmas66 is my twitter id, I will definately follow you I hope you will follow me too. I too was signed up early on and have not used twitter to it's full potential. Since attending RE/Bar Camp Ohio I am making an effort to tweet everyday! Best of luck to you Holly!
Very cool! Let us know how you do on there and what you think after your experiment. I was the same way, not really into the Twitter hype, but I've been trying to do it more lately. Never knew about using the # sign for topics.
Sincerely,
Kathleen
Welcome to the club!! If you need anything, hit me up @TheRealClint on twitter. Be happy to help!
Holly, I really appreciate your comments! I have lots and lots of social media accounts and am not fully utilitzing any of them! I'm looking forward to rebar camp in Lynchburg, VA on October 8! In the meantime, I'm painstakingly trying to find my way. You are so far ahead of me....the more I learn the more I know I do not know what I am doing! I hope to follow you your Tweets too and hope to learn as you go along!
Thanks and good luck!
April Bailey
for the commentor April -- I will also be at REBCLBG!! Looking forward to meeting you there also! :-)
Holly -- Are you going to REBC Lynchburg??
Good luck Holly. I've been using Twitter for awhile now. I don't consider myself a heavy user and I don't bother with time wasting tweets on what I'm doing right now, but I do think it helps your web presence overall. Let us know how it works out for you.
I will be looking forward to the results of you test/experiment. I am considering diving in too...
Thanks for your support, everyone! I am now following you Kristin and I will definitely check in with you, Clint, if I need some help (and I am following you, too). If anyone else decides to dive in, let me know and I will follow you, too!
I am kind of excited to try something new....of course I am getting ready to send my PC in for repairs, so I will be conducting this experiment from my Blackberry and the computer in the kitchen--just makes it more exciting and challenging (ha!ha!)
Holly, let us know how it goes!
I'm curious because I'm kind of like you in my Twittering prowess. I submit them through ActiveRain, make a few comments here and there, but I've not gone at it full force.
I'm thinking of doing the same on my facebook account as well.
Keep us posted.
I too am on twitter, just learning all about social media. Thanks r
Holly, I recently decided to "get serious" about Twitter--a year after signing up--and the results have been impressive. I've tripled traffic to my website. And while I used to just sent my blog posts from AR, I discovered that's not a good idea. Posting with a link to your website or blog generates much more interest. You're welcome to contact me for the details if you wish. Good Luck!
Holly...tear it up.....let me know how it goes b/4 I jump in with both feet.
Hi Holly ~ I'll be very interested to hear how it goes. I just tend to forget about it - though I've been appalled when I look at my list of tweets and it's an uninterrupted list of AR generated notices about my blog posts. I *know* I should at a minimum be adding regular tweets but I forget. I'm going to have to figure out what you mean by the # sign - sounds intriguing.
